RABDF Farm Walks


The RABDF (Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers) and FarmSkills will be holding Youngstock walks on farms in Herefordshire and Somerset in September.

The programme of the day includes:
10:30am – Registration and refreshments
11:00am – Welcome by Nick Everington, Chief Executive, RABDF
11:10am – Farm introduction by the host farmer
11:20am – Farm walk commences. The following key areas will be covered:
• ‘Planning is prevention, medication is fire fighting’ – Shine
• ‘Post weaning – The inside story’ – BOCM Pauls
• ‘Disbudding calves – New thinking’ – Boehringer
• ‘How to be BVD free: tips and advice from the national campaign’ – XL Vets
• ‘Managing air climate, keeping cold calves cosy but fresh’ – Livestock Management Systems
1:20pm – Lunch and opportunity to speak to farm suppliers and event sponsors

Locations for the walks include:

12th September – Mr & Mrs J Roberts, Uphmapton Farm, Leominster, Herefordshire
18th September – Mrs M Cook, Smokey Farm, Taunton, Somerset
